"Dark Side of the Moon".
The whole album is about life in general and as a secondary performer in a tribute band for the album I can explain the song's meanings and what they are based on.
"Speak To Me/Breathe": Longevity
"On the Run": Stress from travel
"Time": Old age, mental stress
"Breathe (Reprise)": Religion
"The Great Gig in the Sky": Death
"Money": (self-explainitory)
"Us and Them": War
"Any Colour You Like": Choices of every-day life
"Brain Damage": Mental Stress
"Eclipse": The creation of the universe
The time and songwritting that went in to making that album is just amazing, lyrics and instrument parts were completely scrutinized before being deemed the final product for the album which is why in eariler versions there were different listings of song's names and other versions of them, such as "Speak to Me/Breathe" being played right before "Any Colour You Like" with "On the Run" coming next in line and following the track listing we see today on the album.
There's also an incredible effect when you blend "Dark Side of the Moon" with "The Wizard of Oz"; the effect is called "Dark Side of the Rainbow" which you may have heard of if you're into looking around on Yahoo! Video or YouTube. I'll post the link to the one with the album and the movie's sound mixed in, the sounds and voices from the movie provide for even more crazy effects in the video.

Sgt. Pepper is a great record and is a classic but I think there are some other very close honerable mentions:
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of The Moon
Led Zepplin II
Metallica - Metallica (Black Album)
Guns 'n Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Iron Maiden - Number Of The Beast
U2 - The Joshua Tree
"Weird Al" Yankovic - Running With Scissors......joke!

Well it is the most influential, it arguably shifted the taste toward psychedelic (though others started it) and it is amazing to hear even now. After that, Pink Floyd's Wall was pretty big, connected with the fall of the Berlin Wall and all.

You're right.However,the white album was awesome too.Pepper's had a lot of good instrumental plus original creation.But,the white one was the best because the mix and sound were excellent.

this one's hard. um, a couple of years ago, on vh1 i think it was, a 100 best rock albums chart said U2's Joshua Tree, but i'd go for Achtung Baby, if it has to be U2. Luv it, at the moment!
