why do british people let the government walk all over them, we just seem to do nothing everytime they raise taxes, fuel prices and every other price they decide to hike up each year. why has there never been a national protest?

Because whoever tries to organise it would probably be charged with one of Tony's many laws, and as Trucker said the unions used to do it.

Glasgow in the 30's had a mass protest and the government ordered in the army.

I remember someone told me years ago that the Roman Electricity Company put up its rates, the whole of Rome refused to pay the bill, The company brought down it's prices.

Look at the French they love a protest.

Britain is too divided culturally to come together to protest.

Because of Insidious Threats Suppression and Corruption at every Level of Government , National and Local - this is an Unprecedented Level of Control over the whole Country as well as the Individual ....... Mr Chops -- yes we can Vote the Present Shower of S H I T Out of Office but they will only be replaced by another shower of S H I T --- The Freedom of the Country as a whole as well as the freedom and Liberty of the Individual are under the Gravest Threat ??????

There is such a day for national protests,,it's called the General Election,,then you just simply vote the tossers out

Last time truckers proposed action, the police threatened to take away their driving licences, seize their trucks etc - so much for a confident, free and open Democracy in the UK.

It's that stiff upper lip crap - chin up and bear with it. We're all too polite to say anything other than 'excuse me do you think that tax is a little high'.

congratulations, thats exactly why many british dont like the govt.
in america, the govt did that, millions of people would take to the streets.

things like that used to be organised by unions, but they have sold out and become pro euro, so they will do nowt. we are alone.
