How fat? That is an important question. You can be overweight and healthy but not obese and healthy.

Yes, you can be considered "fat" and be healthy too. If you eat in moderation, eating appropriate food choices from the food groups, get the right amount of sleep and exercise, along with medical help when necessary you can be healthy despite your weight. Those weight guidelines are simply that, guidelines. Our society tends to see healthy as the supermodels we see on tv or in magazines. I think it's a misconception many people buy into that being overweight is unhealthy.

I'm fat and I'm healthy. I barely get sick and I have an assorted and balanced diet. I may be eating alot, but it is balanced. I do eat normal amounts of red meat, medium to big amounts of veggies and a generous amount of chicken. I hate PORK! I don't eat it that much. I would rather eat more veggies than pork. I do have exercise everyday. I call it disorganized exercise, I walk to the bus stop every weekday, go up and down the stairs when I'm at school, I have PE every school day. When it's is weekends, I do chores.
THE GOOD THING IS................
I DON'T DRINK OR SMOKE(DUH, I'M ONLY IN MIDDLE SCHOOL), AND I DO NOT HAVE PLANS TO DO IT!

Study confirms you can’t be fat — and healthy!
Middle-age people who are overweight but have normal blood pressure and cholesterol levels are kidding themselves if they think their health is just fine.
Northwestern University researchers tracked 17,643 patients for three decades and found that being overweight in mid-life substantially increased the risk of dying of heart disease later in life — even in people who began the study with healthy blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
High blood pressure and cholesterol are strong risk factors for heart disease. Both are common in people who are too fat, and often are thought to explain why overweight people are more prone to heart disease.
But there is a growing body of science suggesting that excess weight alone is an independent risk factor for heart attacks, strokes and diabetes.

I don't think so, especially if the fat is caused by overeating (or eating the wrong foods) and lack of exercise. Exercise is necessary to keep your body in shape. As others said, though, I guess it depends on how fat.
Here's an interesting article... there are probably lots more out there that say similar things:

There is a way to not be your "ideal" weight and be healthy. Some people cannot be the perfect size due to medications and other issues. As long as you are not "obese", it is possible to be overweight at healthy. You just have to eat right, exercise, not smoke or drink excessively....just live a healthy lifestyle.

Yes, there is a way. Actually, being fat is a lot healthier than you'd think. With all of the extra "padding" its harder for you to get hurt or to displace a bone or somrthing. I'm not joking nor did i make this up.

yes you can be moderately overweight and still be healthy if you have a good and balanced diet and do not drink and smoke and take your vitamins and excercise, sometimes we can be overweight due to our genetic make up adn large frame...so a couple of kgs above your normal weight is not an indicative of bad health.thin or normal weight people can be unhealthy...so our health is not only determined by our weight!

Actually yes. A varied diet and lots of excersie and the overweight isn't too dangerous. Studies have shown that it is more dangerous to be slim and inactive.

Hell yes there is, but it depends how fat. There is no one ideal weight for everybody, and if you are getting regular exercise, eating right and not sickly, you're fine where you are. Of course there are limits like obesity, but unless you're over 250 pounds, I'd say you're fine.
