I can beat any team on hard, and all-madden mode, but as soon as i play online, people are always burning me deep, and running by me with big runs...does anyone have any tips to playing onine?

well first of all, on online mode people like to run out of passing formations and pass out of running formations. There is the scrambling factor, and the look off the defenders and pass deep plays... so yes online is much harder.
My suggestion is to concentrate on your defensive game for a while. Some of the tricks I like to use are corner blitzes so when they are scrambling they get blind sided by the corner. Generally the scramblers scramble right about 80% of the time so a good play to do is to do the strike 2 deep out of dime and play the left side blitzing corner so the player is watching you and not worried about the right side blitzer.
Somthing good for the run really depends on what player they are running with. If they have larry Johnson then good luck as I can't seem to stop that SOB. But what I do use for run stopping plays are a mix of general 4-6 packages (with safteys watching for deep plays). I basically pick a linebacker and just spy the running back and just watch where his first step goes and fill that gap.
Another thing you may want to try is to run any defensive play with linebackers on a QB spy and then just blitz with the other linebacker. That way if he scrambles you got a spy on the QB and you can still blitz your other LB to try to stop a running play.
Also, don't underestimate an opponent's bread and butter plays.
If you see someone coming out in a trips bunch chances are it is going to be a fade route to the corner. If it is an I formation twin right then it will probably a weak side counter. Lots of people run tight end outs out of singleback 2TE, and if people have the play "texas" out of split backs they will run that all day.
You can never blitz enough. If someone runs play action on you then you aren't blitzing enough or in the right ways. Once you got your opponent thinking your blitzing then start showing blitz and falling back into zones. You show blitz at the line and you may even get him calling audibles. No matter what you do someone will burn you deep or break a run sooner or later.
Really what winning madden comes down to is the whole game. If you score consistantly and play better defense then you will win the game.

Keep playing online. You'll figure it out. Online is much different from regular play. Just keep at it and you'll find the ways to win.
