All the time. I hate it. It's like they just want you to know they're having a problem-they don't really want your opinion on what's happening and then they're gonna do what they wanna do anyway. I spent THREE HOURS one night telling one of my friends how I thought she needed to stay away from this guy and she agreed that she would. I didn't hear from her for over a week and then I see her at the store with a black eye and busted lip. Guess she didn't listen..

Yeah. It happenes too often. I end up feeling like my opinion doesn't matter to the person and that I really don't give them good advice.
Also, my sister is like that but the opposite. She give some great, great, relationship advice, but she is always the one in a bad relationship. She'll get on her friend if her friend's boyfriend cheats on her ONCE. But when her boyfriend cheats on her three times, "oh, he'll change, he didn't mean to, he just needs to get it out of his system."

People who seek advise are usually asking many others to see what their opinions are. However, at the end of the day, that person who is seeking advice has to make the decision and live with it. It doesn't upset me, because I am not living their lives.

they are just looking for input and will make their own decision.
they can't follow your advice if they don't think it's a good idea.
you need to change your idea about advice. it's input to their
process. asking for it does not commit you to follow it! i don't
understand why it effects you. all you can do is give your experience but they have to decide/live their own life. and that's how you want it. what if someone followed your advice and it turned out terrible and they blamed you! their life is their responsibility. they can't blame you if they decide to take your advice because it was their decision.

yah people don't take my advice sometimes, not to do the exact opposite just to do someone else's that it 10x better than mine, i don't get annoyed, i wouldn't even take my own advice which is filled with sarcasm most of the time.

Of course it happens. There isn't anything you can do about it everyone has their own way of doing things. You just have to accept that they may not always think you are right in their regard.

One of my friends is having boyfriend problems, she constantly asks me what she should do and then doesn't do anything like I told her, it's really annoying because then she'll ask me the same question like two hours later.

Hahaha! I thought that's what teenagers were FOR!!
I don't have any kids of my own, but a few surrogates, and, well, they usually LISTEN quite politely, but THEN.... :-))
Hey, at least they heard me (I think...)
You know what? My older sister is ALWAYS giving me advice. I never used to take it. One time, just on a whim, I did.
And guess what? She was RIGHT! Now I listen to her, and (usually) at least try out her advice! :-))
