I just started into a business and I am concidered an independant distributor. I need the complete spill down about everything. I have contacted the IRS and requested information but I did not even know what they were talking about. I think it would be best if I took some tax courses. I tried H&R Block. Their next course is not until August. I would like something a lot sooner. Suggestion.?

Other than enrolling in college, I think your only option is H&R Block. I'm assuming since you just started your business, you are wanting to know the business side of taxes. If you go into H&R Block and let them do your taxes this year, they will let you know alot of the basic stuff (what expenses to keep track of, etc) That would maybe hold you over until they start their classes up again.

Actually to correct Judy, the H&R Block course covers just about everything in their basic course. From filing statuses, dependents, Schedule C, home businesses, depreciation, casualty losses, capital gains, investment income, Itemizing, Education credits, IRA's, Interest income, Dependent care expenses, Child tax credit, Rental income, gambling winnings and losses...I could keep going but you get the picture.

You could see what accounting courses a local college offers.

One way to get a crash course would be to talk to a local
CPA for an hour or two. He or she can probably tell you the basic info you'll need, such as what records to keep for how long, and what you can deduct. The H&R block course is probably not going to give you a lot of that info.

You'd probably be wise to have an accountant (not H&R) do your taxes, at least for the first year or so.
