not made from rust-free metal? Which brain cell is someone lacking when he/she decided to use a material in the bathroom that rusts? Do they sell screws to fit my toilet seats that don't rust? Lots of questions, I know.

It's the screws in the hinge that hold the lid and seat together. Do they make those out of plastic?

YES, there are plastic bolts/nots for this application -- just go to your local Hardware Store and go to the Plumbing Section or ask the clerk in the store. It should cost a couple of dollars and then you just have to replace them.

try cleaning the rust off with a brillo pad and then putting some crazy glue into the recess. The glue will harden and hopefully protect the top of the screws from rust. now if you want to get them off though, you're screwed (no pun intended).

You can probably buy some rubber padding and just cut out the small shapes and put it into the recess. This should stop it from being exposed and not rust as badly.

I'm thinking plastic screws would break very easily as they would have a small diameter.

just go buy a new seat with plastic nuts and bolts. I'd recommend Bemis or Church as reliable brands but any seat will do
