Lime Wire is a website where you can share files. A great place to download music for free. Use caution when down loading movies if you intend to download one. Sometimes you can get the sounds of the movie and not get the motin picture.

LIMEWIRE-
A popular peer-to-peer file sharing program for Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris from Lime Wire LLC, New York (www.limewire.com). Written in Java and released at the end of 2001, LimeWire is a client program for the Gnutella network.

Written in the Java programming language, LimeWire runs on any computer with a Java Virtual Machine installed. To facilitate installation for casual users, installation packages are available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and in the RPM format for Linux. Support for Mac OS 9 and previous versions has been dropped with LimeWire 4.0.10. The Windows version of the LimeWire installer includes a version of Sun Microsystems' Java installer which will download and install version 1.5 of the Java Runtime Environment if it detects the machine does not have a recent version of Java installed.-

A peer-to-peer client, technically speaking, that allows you to share files with other directly, computer-to-computer (hence P2P) with no central server where files have to reside. It is used for a lot of illegal sharing, of course, and thus monitored (also not too legally) but people who download music do end up in trouble. It used to be free but now I hear they started charging, too, so better look for something else - keep in mind that if you're not a very skilled ccomputer user, you're likely to end up with nasty viruses, spamware, computer invasion, hacking and such.

Limewire is a filesharing application that allows users to search and download files from other users. Very popular with users downloading mp3 files and software apps.

Beware though as this kind of activity infringes copyright ownership and is therefore illegal.

Limewire is a program installed on your computer to link you with hundreds of thousands of other people who also have installed this program. It allows you to share files like music, movies and programs, with everyone else and allows you to copy their files. This is called P2P (peer to peer) or person to person.
