Yes, you MUST tell the truth on the job application -- and if you do NOT (and you are hired ...) then you WILL be dismissed from the position when they go back to FIND OUT the information about the felony convictions.

This is why I TELL ALL the teens that I meet that they MUST NOT DO anything stupid and to stay within the LAW ... and NOT commit any crimes ... because it is part of their LIFE FOREVER when the conviction occurs as an Adult. They can never get rid of the convictions, it shows up in a Background check (and most jobs are now doing Background checks PRIOR to hiring), and does affect your ability to be considered for positions -- especially positions of trust (and this can be anything from the truck you would drive for the company to the warehouse to funds dispersal to other issues).

there were several applicants where I worked who had felonies whom I would liked to have hired. unfortunately because of their record I was prevented from doing so.

there was a person who said " no " to the felony part of the application but lied. needless to say this person was terminated on the spot 2 days later when the truth came out.

With a desperate ideas. And tell the reality on the utility. Write "will clarify at time of interview" this type in case you get the call you have been considered. in basic terms element left to do is sell your self..
