Air Devil pretty much has it with that answer. Don't confuse the on-air story and character with the real life situation.
WWE isn't set up to give it's workers massive benefits in case of injury or worse. I believe Vince was giving her family some support, but it of course wouldn't be on the level of Eddie's salary, and I doubt he is even obligated to offer her anything. Remember, at his core, Vince is a businessman.
Vicki in an on-screen role entitles her to an actual salary and more compensation. Granted, I'm sure she might not be too happy with having the "on camera" perception of her and Chavo not liking Rey and Chris, because in reality that's not the case. But, that is the storyline WWE is running with, and part of the biz is playing the role they set out for you whether your character and actions fit with your real life personality or not.
She's likely doing her best in a not so great situation to help her family out. Case in point: here's a report that 411mania picked up just this week:
-Vickie Guerrero ended up selling the house her and Eddy bought in 2005, and has moved back to El Paso. At the time of Eddy's passing the mortgage was believed to be in the amount of $630,000. With property taxes and other fees, there is a good chance she lost money on the sale.

Most people have the right answer, but the wrong reason. It is the money, however it is because she feels the need to support her money. Yes, Eddie made pretty good money in his time in wrestling, but by no means did he leave his family with enough money to at their current lifestyle on unless he had some serious life insurance...so basically she is doing this to support herself and her son and for all the crap that people give Vince McMahon (I am among them) at least he had enough heart to offer Vickie some $$ to come work for him. She needed the job, more than he needed her.

Money, Eddie was only 38 when he died. I doubt that he left his family enough mony to live on for the years to come. This pays better than most work. I really think she is just trying to take care of her family.
