You can't upgrade VB 6 directly. You need to purchase and install Visual Studio 2005. So you will have VB 6 and Visual Studio 2005.

You then open up Visual Studio 2005 and open your VB 6 project from there. When you do this Visual Studio will run you through the Upgrade Wizard and convert the program for you.

At the end you will get an upgrade report of what was done and anything you need to take care of manually.

One big thing this process does is convert a lot using the vb6compatibility dll. One of the first things I would do is get rid of that reference and fix any code that needs to be fixed. The new code will run quite a bit better.

U don't need to buy anything if you know where to look for on the web. :)) . You could get Microsoft Visual Studio 8 for free >:) , but I still think it's junk , always giving me errors. Try http://sourceforge.net/projects/dev-cpp/ .Works for me! And didn't give me errors.
