What type of food will match my theme? and what are some good props we can use. I was thinking something like the Cotton club. Also its a singles mixer So i need some games where you can get to know people. Like Speed date and speed dance. Help me make this magical. Oh I have a $4,000 budget before the door fee. all adivce would help. thank you.

Putting on some LOOOVE music is a definite must-have.

Put signs up all around your school talking about the dance. They HAVE to know about it!! Make them look like invitations... Folded into thirds, closed, with a ribbon in the front with some message like an invitation in the hidden inside! Then, as the students pass by in the hallways, they can open the invitations posted on the walls and go, "Ohhh there's a dance!!!"

Ooh... Decorations...? Where to start??? You could have a bunch of Valentine's Day colored balloons and have different Valentine's Days phrases.

Cotton Club is a good idea, and you could have some live performances! Maybe your music teacher would be willing to teach your students to play some romantic Cotton Club music (dressed up as performers!) with some breaks in between using the stereo... Or better yet, have the teachers play something or sing! If not a lot of the teachers in your school play, leave it to the band and the chorus (if you have one). :D Or they can just have a few "special performances"

Also, for games, you can gather up about twelve people (six boys, six girls) and randomly match them. (But if two insist on being together... Don't stop them!) Then, have them play Monopoly except start with very little money, like $1,000 or so. This can represent the Great Depression, and they're battling it out with "their spouse" or whatever they want to call it. They'll have to talk out things with their partners, and maybe they could even have children! You could also have a food tax: Every time someone rolls a double 6 they have to pay $50 or something! People could just bring in their Monopoly boards and claim them after the dance, so you don't need to spend that much money on Monopoly.

Another game...? How about DDR? You can have your guests link arms by standing back to back and linking their arms at the elbows but standing in whichever direction they want. Then, they have to battle out another pair(s) working together, for ex.: Girl: Okay, I do the up and right, and you do the down and left. Boy: Okay. You could even have a DDR competition! If any students have DDR pads or programs, that would be great, because you don't need to spend any money on that!

Also, for drinks, you could have a fountain with cider in it so no one wakes up the next day with a really bad overhang! You can "celebrate the season with cider!" (Try saying that three times fast XD) Or, you can stick sodas, water, juices, and other favorite drinks into big metal tubs full of ice around the place you're having the dance/dinner! They can sort of be looked upon as props...!

A small idea to raise money for your school is to sell raffle tickets! You could have raffle tickets with a picture code, not numbers, such as: A heart, then a cupid, a heart, an arrow. That would be the raffle ticket's "number". You could give away prizes like baskets with candy hearts and pencils with hearts on them, roses, etc. Or you can play Bingo with candy hearts and whoever wins gets a raffle ticket, and you could just buy prizes using the budget.

For food... You know, I have absolutely no idea about what kinds of foods you guys like... But...

Also, you could have a Soup Kitchen and have a girl line and a boy line! Then, two adults could count off people. For example, one adult at the girl line could be counting off girls, like she's girl #1, #2, #3, #4, etc. according to their place in the line. Then, the adult at the boy's line could count them off, and girl #1 and boy #1 can choose wherever they want to sit together and mingle with other people. As for seating... Let everyone choose where they want to sit! You could line up tables and benches/chairs in a row like this...

====bench...=====
--------------------------
table...
--------------------------
==another bench...==

And then start again... That way people can talk to the people left of them, right of them, in front of them, AND turn around and talk to those behind them!

The longer the tables, the better, because there are MORE people to mingle with!

... And those are my ideas for now... I'll have some more later...

Here is a suggestion for the games. I have always loved the screws and nuts combination game. I would assume you get the pieces from the hardware store. All the ladies get screws and all the men get nuts. (The metal pieces from a hardware store. Ensure you buy different sizes and types.) Anyway, people have to minge to figure out whose nut fits their screw and it's so funny when you have to say "Your nut fits" or "Let me see your screw." Pretty fun and it won't be a big expense to your budget. Hope your party goes well!
