1. Stephen Harper
2. Ottawa
3. French
4. 16? 17? Don't ask me to name them all. I just know the ones directly north of me.
5. No idea, but I looked it up. Coffee shop chain.
6. I hate sports (can't tell you anything about teams in America either) but I guessed hockey since there seems to be so much rivalry with America about it. I looked it up to double check and I was right.

If you're looking to see if most Americans know anything about our neighbors to the north, the answer is no. US media focuses on the Middle East right now with occasional breaks to talk about North Korea and China. History classes here focus on the creation of the nation and European history. Geography has not been a free-standing class since my parents' time. They try to squeeze it in with history class, but since they don't teach much about world history to begin with it doesn't help much.

Don't feel bad though, most Americans can't identify the location of the 50 states on the map, and if given a map of the Middle East most of them cannot point out which is Iraq and which is Iran despite the fact that a map of it is splashed across our televisions every day.

Yes I know all the Americans are mad at me now and are calling me unpatriotic. But it is pathetic how little we know about the world outside the US. And I for one am not ashamed to admit that we have faults.

Why would that be important to Americans? Most Americans probably couldn't answer those questions if it was about the US.
