Almost all letters go by air now if they are traveling any great distances. Most will be delivered in 2 to 3 days.

A letter from Ohio to Illinois should be delivered within two days (excluding Sunday and holidays). For an increased rate, you can have it delivered overnight. Check your local post office for pick-up times and costs.

If you are talking about the post office delivery service, you can call them. UPS uses tracking scans on all packages and usually the more you pay the faster they devliery it. They have overnight air delivery, ground, 2 day, etc. So, basically the more you pay the faster the delivery. The post office has similiar choices.
