For me it's true. I can take a smart *ss sometimes but then they can start getting old after a while depending on how big of a smart *ss the person is.

No, people can overlook that fault just like any other. I think it's all right to be sarcastic occassionally, but some people fall into the habit of doing it CONSTANTLY and it gets really annoying. But I myself probably fall into that category so who am I to say? A smart@ss is much much better than a hypocrite...

Yes - it's a good guide; so if you are one you have to disguise or conceal the fact by seeming to be one of the boys (or girls). A similar expression is : 'Nobody likes Goody Two Shoes'. In other words, try to fit in with the rest of mankind in a humble(ish) sort of way
