I went to Microsoft's home page and entered 800401f3 into their search engine.
It appears you are missing a DLL (Dynamic Link Library) required to execute Windows Live Messenger. You have a clean install on all machines except your fathers.
You can try to determine which library is missing this could take you a few months, or reinstall Live Messenger in one shot.
Go to Control Panel, Add /Remove Software, Remove the Application.
Reboot the machine and then reinstall.

Whenever you have a problem and reinstall, you should restart the machine between deletion and re-installation. This will clear out whatever is resident in memory and allow a clean install.

Good Luck. I hope this helps.

Go to start, run, type:
C:\Documents and settings
\NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\
Windows Live Contacts

And then delete your login name..
Try again...
should run ok

Good Luck :)
