4x2=8. Allow 10%-20% wastage! You can purchase individual boards from B&Q. Remember to allow a small gap around the edge for the flooring to breath & expand. The gap can be hidden with beading or new skirting etc. To make a really neat job, always cut out the bottom of any architraving around doors.

You just multiply - you've got 8 square metres. But depending on how the shape is and how much cutting you have to do there is always loss. Some products you buy 10% extra, some more than that. You don't want to waste money with a lot of leftover, but you don't want to go back to the store because you came up a tiny bit short. You may get good advice at the flooring store.

i got some good advice for you if your putting in laminate flooring order extra. that way when your flooring does the uglies because for what ever reason namely water. you have pieces to replace it with. Better advice is screw the laminate flooring and go for hard wood will last forever all you have to when it gets old is sand it down and resurface it. laminate flooring is not all what it is cracked up to be. i would highly consider this.
