I have a mildew smell coming from my Washing Machine. I've checked the connections and find no leaks. I've washed the tub by itself with bleach and cleaned the lid. I only get the smell when I open the lid. I used to get it even when the lid was closed. I'm stumped at what to do.

I'm guessing it is coming from the outside of the drum or the rubber seal at the top of the drum. Turn off your water and disconnect your hoses. There should be some hex head machine screws that secure the top in the back, remove them. The front is usually just secured by spring clips. lift up the top, probably from the back and inspect the outside of the drum and seal for mildew. If found, you can use a milgicide. If this cures your problem, then a good preventative measure would be to leave your washer lid open after doing laundry to dry out and prevent it from happening again.

You don't by any chance have a large amount of lint trapped around the aggitator? (sp?)
