We are now very disturbed, plus this is winter period and not summer that flies fly around easily so what will be the explaination to this before they run us crazy and what do we do? The flies were most likely in hibernation.
When it warms up in a house then they wake up.
My guess was the house was less then 45 degrees for over three weeks.

We had the same problem when we moved into our house. Turns out the owners had had new siding and windows installed. Apparently the larva got inside the two and just like they said when fall came and we turned on the heat, out came the flies. It is horrible, we searched the house high and low for decaying food, etc. We pretty much had to let them run their course, but also we took the trash away from the house to prevent any more, and I tried some sticky fly traps in between the window and the screen. Helped a little bit, good luck, hopefully by next season they'll be gone!

Flies are attracted to natural gas, you could have a gas leak above you....
