suggestions?

I need suggestions on a good game to buy, I am wanting one kind of like Grand Thet Auto, something that lets you drive around freely in the area, something you don't just have to race, but you can do what you want. I've already played all the GTA games, and now I want something else, so if you have any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

I've been playing Battlefield 2 for about 1 1/2 years now.
It is a great game for on-line play. The single player version isn't bad either but it was really meant for multi-player mode.

If you want something less violent I always liked a game called Freelancer by MSN.
It is a few years old now and may be a bit hard to find.
It's a space based game that allows you to follow the script or you can strike out on your own and explore the galaxy.
If you do follow the game to the end you can still continue to play forever by exploring uncharted areas and building up your ship and cargo.
It also has a good size Modding community out there who keep this game expanding all the time.
