This is really the sort of thing that she'd be much better off asking her midwife than a bunch of strangers of unknown background on the internet.

Walk around for as long as she can. I went to the hospital because I had contractions, but they stopped when I got there. So the midwives told me to walk to the cafe, which for a normal person was about a ten minute walk. I was fine getting there but on the way back I kept having to stop because the contractions were so strong and fast! good luck to her, hope all goes well.

Just around this time (after the show) I followed my friends advice of having a curry (not sure if theres any truth in that bringing on labour but if there isnt then it was a coincidence with me) also I continued to walk about alot as this helps!! GOODLUCK !!!!

Sounds a bit strange, but nipple stimulation releases oxytocin which is a hormone that speeds up contractions. This is what the hospital gives you in a drip to speed things up. It has to be continuous and not too half hearted.

You can't. Let nature take its course. Some women take 2 hours, others take 2 days to deliver a baby once contractions start.

Get her up on her feet and walking. She probvably won't feel like it, but the gravity and the movement all help! Plus the upright position helps keep baby in the right position too.

the baby will come in its own sweet time, all i can suggest is gravity - stay as upright as possible, walk around, when contraction is coming obviously hold on to something. Gravity is the natural way.

you cant speed them up, but if she finds someothere thing to occupy her mind and to relax her, they may be easier to get on with.if she feels comfortable she could go shopping or take the dog for a walk. the exersize also will help with labour.
best of luck.

the best thing for her to do is to walk. she probably wont feel like it, but wrap up in some warm clothes and have a walk aroung the block, worked wonders for me and i know lots of people who swear by it when they are in labor. I did it for 30mins, and 6 hours later i was in hospital having my son.
