Ok so I'm looking into buying a new graphics card for my computer, mainly because I need a new one that is going to be compatible with Sims 2 (My current graphics card isn't supported.) and I need to know the following:
A. Need to know how to find out if a graphics card is going to be compatible with my computer.
B. What graphics card (I've been looking at a GeForce FX5200 on my local pc stores website for the past couple of days and it is a supported one) that is a supported card, would be good for playing sims 2.
Ok so I only need to know that one thing...

If its going to help, I have a PowerSpec 8921(I got it as a gift from my dad so I didn't buy it.)
I know enough about my computer, but something like a graphics card is a little new to me, but I'm learning.

I found out that you have a 4x AGP slot open. So you need to go to the store and ask for a version of the GeForce FX5200 card that is AGP 4x compatible. Most cards are AGP 8x nowadays, but they are likely to be backwards compatible with 4x too.

good luck ;)

PowerSpec 8921 branded PC. so all you have to do is find the manual for your motherboard or open the case Carefully find the motherboard model number.. (mostly its printed on the motherboard). then.

if u have a manual, check on the manual or check on the Internet with the MB model number & find the motherboard Grapic specification

++++Check for the AGP Accsess Speed(4X,8X,...)++++

(Some MBs you can chaneg AGP BUS Speed in BIOS)

so now you can chane Your VGA card.
(VGA card AGP speed shuld not Exseed MB AGP Speed) :)

Hope You Will Solwe Your Problome.
Good Luck...

Finf out whether youhave an AGP, PCI or PCIe slot.

Your first choice is PCIe, second in AGP, PCI is last.

If AGP, find out the AGP speed.

Otherwise, check the wattage on your power supply.

Now compare these 2 items to your cards required specs.
