the drain has slowed down in the past week- I've tried Draino but there has been no appreciable increase in drainage. Any ideas??, other than a plumber and a snake?

Let the water run enough so you can use a plunger. You'll need to take the cover/screen off first. Using the plunger will break that nasty hair loose for sure.

Get a good liquid drain cleaner. You have soap and hair build up and old dead skin. Forget about buying it at the Dollar Store. Go to a hardware that sells to professionals.

+Take the Drain off, (there should be a screw that you can undo) You might have hair stuck in there or other nasty things!
If you cant see anything that could be blocking it up then call a plumber. or if you cant get the drain off call a plumber.
Draino could damage your pipes if used to much.
I hope this help.

Plunger, boiling hot water, drano again, foaming drain cleaner. I have been happy with an enzymatic drain cleaner.
