France has a home ground advantage. France can beat any team on the day. Very unpredictable. My money is on South Africa.

In the 2003 world cup, the last match for France was for 3rd place again New Zealand (All Blacks). France decided to blood its young team for this years world cup.
I have not watched the French team since 2003. If they have the same basic team from 2003, I would give them a chance.
The home ground advantage could work both ways. The crowd may not get behind their team when they are losing. The team may play even worse with no crowd support, and this will usually boast other teams.
I am not going to write off Australia, as everyone else is doing. They were written off in 2003 and made the final. Granted, they did not win, but had a chance.

I think France have an advantage by playing at home. The French by nature, can be so hot and cold that you just never know. They have good players but can they play as a cohesive unit?
I think the most consistent team in the northern hemisphere in the past year has been Ireland. They might scare many teams. They destroyed S. Africa and the Aussies this Autumn.
But everyone will be chasing New Zealand. It pains me to say it but the 2 best sides in the world are NZ. A and NZ.B.
Everyone else is a long way behind.
But i think Ireland has an underdogs chance at taking them out on the one off final.....

France are capable of beating anyone on the day. Remember the semi finals of the last world cup? Or the one before that when they knocked the AB's out?? Their problem is consistency.
Ireland are in with a good shot as well.
Kiwis will probably choke in the semis like they normally do!!!!
Looks like Roland & I are the only ones posting logical, informed answers here. The 'Boks don't stand a chance, just like the Wallabies (my team).

France stands a good chance because they are always the wildcard and will have an upperhand since they play at home. GO SOUTH AFRICA!

Roland, recall that test in September in South Africa - the All Blacks didn't win that one.....and bring on that B team of yours, anywhere - would be an easy game...
France have too many forgeigners in domestic game - so cannot produce a good national team. Aus is just weak. Ireland good but no depth so injuries will stop them, England falling apart (again too many foreigners in local league (203 out of 360 players in premiership). Wales no depth. Scotland weak, Argentina not quite there yet... AB's are the best at the moment, but don't write of South Africa!
