I think all people think about it or speak about it at one point or another in their lives and to say differently is a lie or denial, they may not mean it or they may. People are not free with thoughts like these because of how they may be perceived and done if they actually just want to talk about them in many cases.
I think that not all people act on every thought that they have and that we are over using thoughts of suicide to mentalize people in our country. In fact with our suicide programs and mental health programs the way they are I fear that we are actually pushing more people into so called suicide attempts, labels, or images of them doing so as scare tactics so they can so call be treated by those that get paid for doing and pushing this treatment on people then we are actually doing much of the right things to stop it.
I also think that it is a personal decission and if one really wants to do it and is not just seeking attention they will find a way when they get ready and that we can not or do not have much actual control over that. To do anything other then listen and be an ear of support and try to fix some of the actual things that are really the real problems causing a person to feel like this or think like this will be much more better then pushing them into so called treatment. Confidentiality is sorely lacking in our society even though it is one of our constitutional rights.
Most people that ever really committ suicides don't talk about it first, they tend to be having a hard time and no one is being very supportive "before" it gets to this point, and they see no other way out, or they feel so much shame or helplessness that they just want out of it. So they do something that others see as the stupid way out, but it is their choice.
We have no mental health programs in this country or social programs that are actually doing any thing beneficial to keep any of the really bad things from happening, they are overcrowded and handling issues in the wrong ways and hurting others more then they are helping, they just push people into hiding their thoughts and feelings better or finding the way out and that is often the to late suicide that we actually see.
Screeings won't work, in fact they could have just the opposite affect by giving the person the idea in the first place. This is true especially if it is a child. Is this serious enough for you? I think we need to change what we are doing in our society before it is to late.

Yes, for a while that was the only thought that ran through my mind. It was horrible. I wanted to do it for several reasons, about everything. I hated my life, and I hated myself. I guess you can say I tryed "unconsciously" but was unsuccessful. I'm grateful that I made it through my depression, as alone as I was. I'm not looking for fake sympathy, but I hope you don't do this and if you need someone to talk to go to a psychiatrist. Now, once in a while suicide comes to mind because I don't know how I'm going to make it in the future, but I think about my family and what would happen to it. My brother used to be suicidal and I know if I was gone (no matter how many times we fight) he'd probably do it too, and I don't want that. I really hope you get better, if you were considering. Keep your head up.
Peace and Happiness.

Yes, I felt like committing suicide when I was younger. Due to stress levels being high, at that time homework was piling, I failed most of my subjects and the incessant nagging by parents and teachers alike. That was a really high point. Everytime I look down from a building I felt like jumping off to end my suffering.
Fortunately I did not, due to the fact that I could not bear to not see my family and be with them. That was the driving force that persuaded me to give up the thought of committing suicide. Besides, if you do not die from it, you might get arrested instead!

Yes, and glad I have stayed to drive someone nuts there was a point in my life I felt unloved and that no one cared a crap for me. I was told by a stranger that same day I was thinking suicide that everyone we touch in a positive way changes peoples life and that we all have a purpose that stranger was so right when we push it forwarded the good deeds

Yes well i have though about commiting sucide n have ended up conteplating it too but was never able to gather up guts to commit it......cause of many reasons in my life i had decied that i could no longer carry out my self in such a state as ppl n life don't seem to change for u....they never will
But later when i was trying to search solutions for the probs or share my feelings n happnings i came across an article by an old person who was like ne of us fed up with his life condition but later he changed his mind after reading one statement which goes like this....."Remember dear person i just have this to say to you - "you are no use to anyone if your dead -By unkown"
N this changed my decision n view forever......now i don't live for my life but now i LIVE my live......though i no life isn't easy it never will be but thats but consolidation should cm from within ur self for your self n not pittiful comments from people so don't listen to others n hear ur soul n never under estimate your self......if u do u have already died from within

yes I have considered and even tried obviously unsuccessfully 3 times, and let me just say, I am glad now that I didn't succeed. I would have missed out on my wonderful family, and friends. No matter how bad things seem to be for you, just remember, there is always someone out there, that is having an even harder time. I hope you are not having these thoughts, but if you are, please seek help, it is worth it to overcome these feelings.

i think at some point in their lives almost everyone has had that thought-not that they would act on it. sometimes crazy thoughts just run through our minds. if you are feeling that way please get help! talk to someone-a friend, family member, church official, teacher, etc..anyone you feel comfortable with and can trust. i have at various times in my life felt despondent but i always hoped things would change for the better. it does take alot of determination and courage to change the situation or yourself. nothing in life will ever change unless we first change ourselves and how we view life. a positive attitude and outlook can make a world of difference. believe in yourself and be kind to yourself.
