Staring at direct sunlight (or any intense light source, including the corona of a solar eclipse) will damage your retinas.

Yes, it can. Solar eclipses are particularly dangerous. A reflected, or projected, image is the only way to do it.

Yes! Even during an eclipse, it will burn your retinas.

It can if you do it enough. It damages your retinas. It would take your doing it many times before you would become really blind.
