Air bag light "on" indicates a fault within the system that will require "code reading" to establish faulty part
No as yet airbag light illuminated is not reason to fail MOT test. That is not to say that it will not be included at some time in the future. At present it is a pass and advise item

Hi there,
after turning on the ignition or starting the car the air bag warning lamp will stay on for upto 7 seconds, this is a self check for the airbag system, If the light stays on or flashes continually after the first 7 seconds then you have a problem, it's usually undeseat connectors and the warning lamp and system can only be diagnosed using the proper diagnostic equipment or equivalant.
The airbag warning lamp is NOT a reason for rejection to issue an MOT pass cert (vt20) however a good tester will issue an advisory sheet.
Good Luck

if you mean 03 406 i assume you are talking about peogoet 406, light on quite normal, well when i mean normal, immean your not the only one, its most likelikey to be the seatbelt pertensioner wiring connector under the seat, switch ign off fully , leave for 5 minutes , then unplug the connector under the seats, yellow coonector usually, but might be brown, you should recognise it, got strange looking connector, then reconnect both again, switch ign on and light should go out, the problem is the resistance in the connectors and if they become to resistive the airbag system detects that and switches the system off.
and its not aprt of the mot test , its the abs light if fitted that is mot failure if it stays on

You may have a problem with wiring or your clock spring (the spring underneath the steering wheel) may be faulty. You may even have a problem with one of your seatbelts - are they all working properly? Do they catch when you pull on them sharply? Also look under the front seats as the wiring for the seatbelts are usually run under the seats and sometimes if you move the seats a lot, you disturb the wiring. You may need a diagnostic reading to find out what the problem is. And yes, it is an MoT failure as it designates a problem with a safety feature, i.e. your air bag.

Well if you checked it out, then it must be a light problem. You can check out the manual to see if you can turn it off. Did you get it checked by a professional? You should if you haven't. I thought my air bag light was on once, but it was a light just indicating that the air bag is functioning properly.

you either have a failure in the airbag system, or a computer failure. you can have the code reset. if it recurs then you have a problem somewhere. sometimes stuff just happens, and when reset it never fails again. I have seen something as simple as using a test light to check for voltage supplying a ground and resetting the board and it works great thereafter.
