I always thought Fable on the original Xbox was a very good action rpg in a somewhat similar vein to Zelda. Far more linear than Zelda but a great game in it's own right. But the real answer is no, nothing really comes near to the Zelda games. Some say (including myself) that Ocarina of Time is the pinnacle of gaming but the series has become a little stale since then. very predictable. Miyamota has stated that Twilight Princess is the last Zelda of the Ocarina mold, so expect something special for the proper Wii Zelda.

I think that the zelda games have to be the best ever! Twilight Princess for the Wii is probably, for me, the best one so far. Other people may disagree but i agree with you they have to be there legendary!!

As far as action RPG comparisons go there are a couple. Brave Fencer Musashi (yes its a PSone title) is very similar while very well done at the same time...thats about all I can think of off the top of my head. Check out though I was very pleased.

zelda has been tried over and over, so it knows where it has failed, and what to fix - that's why games like windwaker could be so good (except how freaking annoying it was to sail)
