I believe myself to be an honest person. This does not mean that I just bolt everything and anything that I think out loud. And, there are times when I believe there is justice in lying. When you get a little older and wiser it seems you learn when lying is best and when it's not.
Here are a few examples on the job:
1. when I would tell the truth: on the job, if my manager asks me to do something, I will do it beause he is depending on me. If I can't or refuse to do something asked of me on the job, I will be up-front about it to begin with. I will NOT say that I will do something and then not do it. I'm trustworthy that way.

2. When I would lie: if my manager calls me at the last minute to go travel somewhere to do something, and he waits until the last minute to ask me - I have LIED about this and have told him that I am unable to do it becuase I have a prior engagement EVEN if I don't.
I have done this becuase it was important to me that my manager learns that he cannot drop these things on me at the last minute. Actions speak louder than words sometimes. Telling him I have a prior engagement instead of telling him that I won't do it becuase it was unthougtful for him to ask at the last minute, well... what difference does it make that I lied? I got my message through - don't take advantage of me. ON the other hand, if my manager is desparate for my help, well that may be a different story. It all depends.

I will not lie to gain goods or money that does not rightfully belong to me. I don't bullshit people that I care about either. I have found there are a whole lot of bullshitters in this world. If I find a wallet I get it back to the owner. If I bump into someone in a parking lot and put a dent in their car, I wait for them to come out and tell them what I've done. I own up to my mistakes usually.

I'll not dislcose all information or I will lie if I am involved in a situation where the person I'm dealing with is not totally honest either. For example, I'm going to buy another car soon. When I go to the dealer, I'm not going to tell them that I'm trading in my current car. If asked, I will say no. Then after I get a price, I'll tell them I changed my mind and that I'm gonig to trade in the car. I feel this is justified in this kind of situation because I almost have to be dishonest in order to get the car dealer to be honest with me and give me a price. If I were dealing with someone in a situation where they had little to gain in dealing with me, I would be more honest.

I'm lucky that I do not find myself in many situations where the temptation to lie is there.

I find that I'm outwardly very honest about myself and my shortcomings and my insecurities and fears. Many people find this unsettling I guess because it makes them think of their own insecuritites. Oh well.

In my family I'm known for talking about everything.I know that at times I have pissed off my family because of it.That's why I tell them don't tell me about anything bad happening in our family because I always confront the problem. If there is any kind of abuse happening they are going to hear about it.I don't get verbally abusive or anything of that sort.I just let the guilty culprit know about their actions. Then I tell them that we're there for them (that's if they want the help). No I hate to lie and I'm at a point in my life where I can't put up with lying or covering up for anyone. Why complicate your life with lying?

Fairly enough. I usually lie to save myself from some difficult situations.

Not often.
The strangest thing that I've discovered, is that, contrary to what you would think, religious people are much, much more dishonest than atheists.
They can invent excuses for the lies in their "holy books" faster than a nuclear reaction.
