Send just a quick outline of the book to publisherers, they do not read manuscripts, they don't have the time. The outline should be as short and easily read as possible. Send a self enclosed envelope for the answer.

Try sending a copy of your book to several talk show hosts. Don't forget the Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert programs, they are great about promoting the little guy and have an awesome following.
Sometimes the direct approach can spark their interest and at least get a mention or if it is really interesting.
Any of these type of forums My Space, Yahoo Answers, MSN. ...etc are a great place to get your information out there. You can create a tag line that is posted at the end of every post you make. Work with the information and free venues that are offered everywhere. Just do what you are doing now but get that book's name out there, create a link to your website. Just answer the questions and tag it with your signature. Don't abuse the sites though you will get bounced.
Put specific information in the subject line and sell it on eBay. Ever wonder why....? This book has the answers you are looking for.
Good luck with your book, I hope you find success and don't give up!!!

In my experience if you're a girl and need a publicity stunt don't wear any knickers when getting in an out of London clubs.

If you're a guy then sleep with Chantelle from BB or sell just walk right into Buckingham palace dressed as a shake .

Give us some more information on your book maybe? Is it fact? Fiction? What's it about (even vaguely)?

So far the only universal publicity stunts I can think of are: A.Making someone famous (at least C-list) fall in love with you and be papped with them a lot on mad nights out, or B.Appearing on some trashy reality tv show.
