I am really a novice pc user, so I can use all the advice anybody is willing to share with me. They are both hp deskjet printers. The new one has a scanner and copier etc. So Do You Delete all the old printers info, before installing the new one, or can I just go ahead and install this one. With no conflict of interest.
Thanks for any advise.

You can just go ahead and install the new printer. If at some point you want to delete the old printer, just do it. Windows keeps track of the drivers, and there would be no problem at all. (This is part of my job.)

Just install it. The HP install disk will remove the old installation if necessary. The old printer will still work, you set the new printer as the default. You can delete the old printer from "Printers and faxes" if you like, but it isn't necessary.

You do not need to, but it is good pratice to do not leave unused files on the PC.
I'd uninstall all the software (drivers, tool box, etc.) that came with the old printer before installing the new one.
