I have a female orange and black platy and a male black swordtail platy. They both had partners but both their partners died. Now they follow each other around and the male seems like he is trying to breed with her....whats up?

Yes. The different colours, finnage and tails of platy's are just different breeds of the same fish. You can cross a swordtail with a mickey mouse and get a bunch of things. I best like my tuxedo x sunsets.

What's up is that if there is a male and a female platy they are mating. Get them some friends. They are schooling fish and should be kept in the ratio of 1 male:3 females.

Absolutely. I've had platties in my fish ponds for yrs. It's fun to get the different colors. Note: platties do not always do well in outdoor fish ponds. Mine started from previous generations of platties that were bred in outdoor ponds, so thru generations, have been acclimated.

in case you spot no distinction with them healthwise, its in all probability because of the fact the dad and mom are actually not "organic." reckoning on the place you get carry of them, autonomous breeder vs. petsmart, the purity of the fish line is affected. There might have been a black fish far back interior the line and he/she is only now commencing to take place.
