I would not ever run for president of these United States. I hear everyday how people say they could run the office of president much better than who ever is in office at the time.
The truth is - there is no president that has ever pleased everyone. It is impossible. Go to war - you make people mad. Surrender our country to avoid a war - you make the same people mad. Raise taxes to open new programs to make life better for Americans - people get mad. Lower taxes, and put the country in deeper debt, you get people mad.
The old saying, "You cant please everyone, so you got to please yourself" does not apply in the office of the President. To use that thinking is to become a dictator. The President (past, current, future) can not please all Americans and will always make judgment calls that really tick people off to maximum degrees.
Keeping the country safe -requires tough decision making and a president (right or wrong) has to make this call to the best of his ability. Keeping this nation civilized also a major task.., protecting Americans from Americans seems to be a growing trend. At some point..., I gravely fear.., we will be forced into a Communist style/form of Democracy, no matter who becomes President.
Clinton started it (no matter how much others disagree), Bush is filling in the blank.., and our next President whoever he or she is, no matter Republican or Democrat, will finish it off.

No; it is entirely too much work. I could probably handle the job adequately if elected, but my priorities are at odds with those of the present Congress and it would be difficult to get much done.

Not a damned thing! Why you ask? Because the opposing party would not let me do a damned thing! Our government is ridiculous and it is scary!
I would focus on border security, illegal immigranst, terrorism, and the interference by other countries into our affairs. I would also stop the hemorrhaging of US jobs and manufacturing to overseas markets. (Hell, we are giving the tools to other countries to kill us!) I would move to gain back our dignity.

Even if I could, I wouldn't. The responsibility of practically running the country and more would be too much.

Heck yea. I would focus on illegal immigration, the Iraq situation as well as any other threats to the security to this nation, getting rid of stupid organizations like the ACLU.
