3.16 x 10^-3 x (1- A) = A

Distribute on the left:

3.16 x 10^-3 - (3.16 x 10^-3)A = A

Move all terms with A in them to the right:

3.16 x 10^-3 = A + 3.16 x 10^-3A

Factor out the A:

3.16 x 10^-3 = (1 + 3.16 x 10^-3)A

Divide both sides by the coefficient of A:

A = 3.16 x 10^-3 /(1 + 3.16 x 10^-3) = 0.00316/1.00316

Plug into a calculator:

A = 3.15 x 10^-3

3.16 x 10^(-3) - 10^(-3)A = A
3.16 x 10^(-3) = A + 10^(-3)A
3.16 x 10^(-3) = (1 +10^(-3))A
3.16 x 10^(-3) =(1.001)A
3.16/1.001 x 10^(-3) =A
A = 3.157 x 10^(-3)

Simplifying
0.00316(1 + -1A) = A
(1 * 0.00316 + -1A * 0.00316) = A
(0.00316 + -0.00316A) = A

Solving
0.00316 + -0.00316A = A

Solving for variable 'A'.

Move all terms containing A to the left, all other terms to the right.

Add '-1A' to each side of the equation.
0.00316 + -0.00316A + -1A = A + -1A

Combine like terms: -0.00316A + -1A = -1.00316A
0.00316 + -1.00316A = A + -1A

Combine like terms: A + -1A = 0
0.00316 + -1.00316A = 0

Add '-0.00316' to each side of the equation.
0.00316 + -0.00316 + -1.00316A = 0 + -0.00316

Combine like terms: 0.00316 + -0.00316 = 0.00000
0.00000 + -1.00316A = 0 + -0.00316
-1.00316A = 0 + -0.00316

Combine like terms: 0 + -0.00316 = -0.00316
-1.00316A = -0.00316

Divide each side by '-1.00316'.
A = 0.003150045855

Simplifying
A = 0.003150045855
