If it's a high quality body lotion that mainly contains natural ingredients (but from the INCI composition featuring the latin names it's usually hard to tell) then it's safe.
But if you're unsure, then don't try it. Because it's common for manufacturers to use on the body harsher and poor quality ingredients that they wouldn't dare using in a face moisturizer. For instance, anything that derives from oil, like petroleum jelly, could clog pores; some active ingredients derived from citruses (like natural lemon, orange, grapefruit, etc.) are photosensitive, which is OK for the body especially in winter, but not for the face. Some body lotions contain chemicals that are so bad for skin, that I would definitely avoid it on my face but on my body too... My advice? Learn the specific vocabulary used to describe the ingredients used in personal care products so that you will know exactly what's inside and you'll never be fooled again by the cosmetic industry.

I have eczema so I am always in need of lotion... if your skin is really really dry and you don't have any other alternative use body lotion on your face (try using unscented and one without any colors, because the colors require more chemicals).
If your skin is oily definitely do not do it, it will clog pores and make your face have acne also if it's too sensitive it can cause a rash.
Obviously avoid it as much as possible and use moisturizer that's special for your face but I discovered that the body lotion by Fruit of the Earth "Shea Butter & Aloe Vera skin care lotion" can be used even on my face without damaging or clogging my pores.
If you use body lotion it's super important to also wash your face because even if it doesn't irritate it it's heavier and has more lipids than a skin moisturizer (which you can tell even by holding them that body lotion feels heavier than face moisturizer). So if it keeps layering it will clog your pores no matter what.

Absolutely not. Body lotion is for your body. Your face is exposed to a lot more free radicals than the skin that is covered by clothing most of the day. You need to use something that is formulated especially for your face, and make sure that you have at least an SPF 15 to combat the damage the sun does, even in the winter time. I use Arbonne's RE9 system for 30+ skin. Arbonne has the Intelligence skin care system for younger looking skin. It doesn't matter what you use, as long as it's formulated for your face.

NO!!!! Face lotion has higher quality ingredients in it then body lotion. Like you wouldn't use your face lotion for the legs, right?
Yeah, and its a little cheap. Just spend some extra money and get something nice for yourself. You deserve it!

Me personally I don't use body lotion on my face. Especially scented body lotions. Body lotions tend to break my face out because my skin is so sensitive. Thats another reason I use unscented cream on my face called Eucerine cream. You can find it at any drug store.

Body lotion is for your BODY and face lotion is for your FACE. The skin on your face is different than the skin on your body, so you should treat it differently. And, always use sunscreen. Happy New Year.

In a pinch yes, but avoid the eye area. As well, ensure that the lotion doesn't have any lanolin in it as it causes facial hair.
Take care.

don't do that. use only the products that are supposed to be used on face. and for the zone around your eyes, use products for eyes ONLY. if you can't use the right products, don't use anything.
