countries have been taking over other lands for all of history. its a fact of life, and a fact of human nature. it doesnt make the jews or anyone any more guilty than the rest. look at how the muslim ottomans invaded europe, and consider how the arabs have been fighting each other for thousands of years. the jews just seem like a scapegoat for them. something to blame all their problems on. israel has no oil, and very few natural resources compared to other parts of the middle east, for example lebanon (when it rebuilds). the palestinians can live in other arab countries with more oil, but no one is willing to help them much. the jews have had no home after losing israel (first), and on top of that, they went through a holocaust. give them that crappy land, the palestinians wont lose anything by going to dubai or kuwait or some wealthier nation. but i guess those arabs would rather let them suffer by themselves.

Israel is the only Jewish state in the whole world. The Arabs have 22 states. The Arabs are not wiling to accept a Jewish state in their midst.

Israel thought that by leaving Gaza entirely in August 2005, that the Arabs would get their act together and develop their economy. Instead, the Arab have seen fit to launch thousands of missiles at Israel's civilian population, intending to kill as many citizens as possible.

Israel, on the other hand, is trying to live in peace. When they do attack, it is with the clear objective of silencing the Arab terrorists. By international law, Israel is totally justified in its quest to protect its citizens. The Arabs are in total violation of international law by unprovoked attacking of innocent civilians in Israel.

The Palestinian Arabs could have had a state already, if they only behaved like civilized human beings. But they have proven time and again that they are not ready to behave, and so the Arabs will have to exist with "only" 22 states.

First of all, Gwen, you have no idea what Islam is all about. Read the Qur'an first and then comment on the religion. You have a flawed peception of what Islam is all about. The Israeli-Arab conflict is more political than religious. In fact religion plays very little role in it. It's more politics and nationalism than anything else.

To answer your question: There is no big deal about Israel. That's as simple as the answer gets. The whole conflict is being blown out of porportion by the media. For the most part, the people there on both sides get along and are peaceful. I can tell you right now that an Israeli or Palestinian person is less likely to get killed by crimes, war, and shootings than most Americans in the large cities. I'm 100% sure of it. It's actually only a minority on the two sides that do the fighting, terrorism, and they're the ones that get all of the attention. You know how the media is: it NEVER focuses on any of the good and all it does is focus on the tyrannies that take place in the world. And when a westerner's only experience with that part of the world is through a biased media, that leads to generalization and stereotypes. With that being said, I would recommend that you do some research (I'm not trying to say that you're dumb or anything) about the situation and demographics on that area. In Palestine, Israel, Gaza, West Bank, etc. . . there are somewhere around 10 million people inhabiting that land. TEN MILLION. How many have have died in the past 30 years due to violence? I don't know exactly but the number does not exceed 10,000. Ten thousand isn't a small number but when you compare it to ten million, it's barely anything. If there was as much violence in that area as the media says there is then the number would be way higher. It's all sensationalism. More people die in Sudan, Tibet, Central American drug trade, and in like 1000 other scenarios but they never get any attention. Why? Because of sensationalism. The media know that it can profit off of the middle east "conflict" than anything else so it does as much as it can to overexaggurate it that way people get into it more and more. Now, with that being said, I'm not saying that it's not a problem. Thousands dying in the past 6 years isn't good, but it's also something that we shouldn't get up in arms about. The Palestinian-Israeli conflict isn't as nearly of a big deal as the other 1000 really big deals in the world are.

EDIT: I would like to add some more details about my point about the area being much more peaceful than what the media says. Imagine this: Image that Palestine was really teaching its children to live to kill Jews (as some mislead people say). That would mean that all 4 or 5 million Palestinians and Arabs in the area would be doing nothing but trying to kill Jews. That means that the number of suicide bombings and killings would be way higher than it is now. When was the last time a suicide bombing happened? How many total suicide bombings have taken place? Compared to how many Palestinians there are: not that many. There are millions of Palestinians and only dozens of suicide bombings. Do the math. If Arabs were taught hate as much as disillusioned people say they are, there would be alot more dead Jews and suicide bombers than there already are. You would literally have 100s of thousands of Arabs marching to Israel, trying to kill Jews. OR they'd be killing the Jews in the middle east.

I'll tell you, if the situation was as bad as some people say, there'd be alot more dead bodies than there already are.

Hey Devilish actually the territory belonged to Great Britain When they formed Israel. England gave them the land. Also its hard to say that Jews begin all conflicts when they day they declare statehood they are invaded By seven Muslim countries who want nothing but to drive the jews into the sea. By the way Palestinians are Arabs and not an ethnic group they are only called palestinians because they live in the area they call Palestine. They are the same as the people living in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries and could easily get along living in any other arab country or they could stop their bitching and attacking jews and continue living where they are.

It's always easy to blame the Jews if something goes wrong in the Middle East and one of the reason is try to tell something to one of the leader in the Muslim countries like Assad, they will twist the truth and all facts of the history and make the Jews responsible for everything. Israel was blamed by some Arabs as responsible for 9/11.

Some of them even still in denial of the holocaust, try to tell it to people who survived the “death camps” and have a number on the wrist- no they did not get it from a tattoo artist.

Jews always were scapegoat and some are still trying to blame them for everything that goes wrong in the Middle East.

It’s the only country in the Middle East that believes in democracy and respect people right to express themselves and their religion.

This “carppy land” became a successful one; Israel is leading in many fields like high technology, science and medicine.

Do you know some of the Muslims countries who lead in any other areas except of the” suicide bomber”???

I think jealousy has a lot to do with that. Look the Palestine that got Gaza and see what it became of it? They are killing each other!!!

All you- who are "Jews haters" need to do more homework, unfortunately I can't ask God to give you more brain, its too late.... but its not too late to read some history books…

Just as Jews have been an easy scapegoat / excuse used by Europeans and Muslims throughout the centuries, Israel, today is the "Jew of the nations".

What you're saying makes a lot of sense, but this has as much to do with oil as it does with Kelloggs cereal. It all boils down to principles, religion and a too long game of "I was here first". Everyone involved has too much pride to even begin to sit at a table with a common grund of being human beings and try to work the matter out. It's unfortunate.

Try telling the arabs that. It is within their religion to hate the jews, they train young kids to hate them and to be prepared to kill them. I resently saw a video of this, a muslim mother and her daughter, she was asking her questions like: Who are the ones that represent evil on earth? and Who are the ones to blame for all our problem?, the answer kept coming back "the jews". And there was some ridiculous story about a jew trying to kill their god or something like that.
This battle, thi WAR, will not go away by itself, that's why their is intervention and there should be more of it.
It's on the media because it is incredible how many people are constantly dying, the pain, the innnocents, the hate, if you can look at all of this and say "who cares?" , well I care, and obviously I'm not the only one.

First of all, the people who call themselves "Jews" (80% of todays Jews) have no historical ties to the lad now in question. If history serves me correctly, the bulk of the Eastern European "Jews" converted to Judaism when they where Khazars. Not a single one of their ancestors ever put a foot on that land.
The "Jews" have sold Christians on the idea that they are "God's Chosen People", and Christians bought it line, hook, and sinker. When Christians come to the defense of the "Jews", it is because of this absurd belief.
