Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc were all great at the time & still good now.
I know modern day consoles are designed for 3-D games & they do a good job too, but 3-D platformers always seem to be crap.

There was Rayman on PS1 that was good but they ruined it by going 3-D, oh & theres new Mario on DS. Cant think of any more.

Anyone know any more?

platformers are a dying on the big consoles. The only ones that are thriving are ones that are 2-d. The new Mario is semi 3-d, models are 3-d but its still a 2-d Mario. I actually really like it, if they would put out some More like that, i would love it. The prob with the full 3-d platformer is always controls and camera. Either one or the other is busted. And you normally feel strange moving the character, i know there were some good ones, jak series and ratchet and clank, but if you actually played them you probably have a moment were you got so mad you threw your controller!

Yea, they're a dying breed, they are still cool in my books tho. i stil own an atari, sega genesis, NES, SNES, N64, PS2 and gaming computer, but I've never stopped liking those.

Kirby was 2-d for the longest time, and i think still is. Even PAC MAN went 3-D, how lame is that?? the old final fantasy games were 2-D. the old Zelda games were, Metroid, but they're all 3-D now. Anyway, it's good to hear i'm not the last one still playing those. later!

get Super Mario War for free here: http://bit.ly/1qXIUjm

no surveys, no scams, just the full game!
Now, Mario will not have to fight against Bowser to rescue the princess. The fight will be against Mario himself!
Give it a try.

I myself prefer 3D games more than 2D for the fact that i find it more advance. Great 3d games are easy to find just pick one from the shelf say, Gears of War, DOA, Fable, Sims and the list goes on...

The only thing that i hate about 3D games is that sometimes you need to walk alot just to get from place to place.

Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, it was a fantastic 2-D game. If you're turned off to 3D, try Ninja Gaiden Black for XBOX. That should change your mind.
