They have their own faith and beliefs and ways, and sadly they must have to face the ignorance of people in this century trying to impose technology and changes in them. The Amish seem to be polite and want to keep to themselves, but have to adapt to keep up with how things change, with the heavy use of computers and how many things are only done through the Internet now (I bet some Amish have to get online to DMV to have permission to ride their buggy on streets. Crazy!)

Amish people are just like another person, but due to there religion they can't do somethings like we people today. There a wounderful group of people, but people may not know that unless they have spent time with a Amish person or person. I this for a fact because I have lived next to a Amish family. I also agree with what Joy Ride and Ginny have said.

They're right
They don't put chemicals in foods like the big food companies do. The foods they produce are just pure healthy food.

Non-amish food companies etc, put chemicals in foods that are really risky or dangerous for our health, like cancer-causing sulphites and nitrites in packaged meats; and TSP tri-sodium phosphate (driveway cleaner!) in boxed cereals which gives heartburn and digestive-tract damage; and man-made trans-fats, and MSG and Aspartame/phenylalenine that gradually degrades nerve cells and brain cells, and so much fructose sugar that makes fat but doesn't satiate our hunger,....etc, etc,...
and they don't feed animal/meat by-products back to their farm animals like non-amish have been doing in our modern times, which enhances development of diseases in our livestock.

More modern doesn't always mean more better !!!

Amish have it right ! Our modern non-Amish society needs to learn from them !!!

We can learn a lot from them -- making personal faith central to daily life, living simply, having a strong sense of community, rejecting violence. Can't think of values more needed in the 21st century.

I respect there rights to believe in there life style, after the killings at the school house, they were so loyal and faithful, plus forgiving for the saddness that was brought upon them

I know a lot of Amish people. They are very nice. They know more about our "world" than they let on. When we talk the know more about politics and stuff than I do.

Being Amish is fine...that is a life and religion that they have lived by for many years...it's just not for me.

I think they must look at the world we live in & feel very comfortable about keeping themselves seperate from it. I was deeply saddened by the schoolhouse murders earlier this year. Reportedly their deeply held religious beliefs helped them cope with this tragedy.

It doesn't matter what I think about them. They all seem content to live the way they've chosen. It seems like a simple life, but one of peace. Good luck to them

I agree with Joy Ride on this one. Their bake sales are awesome.
