that depends on the state, county and sometimes the city in which you live. I live in georgia ( and work at a restaurant, as the beverage manager) .. you have to be 18 to work as a server in an establishment that sells aloohol. some of our 17 yr olds get around this by working on sundays. when in our country we cant sell alcohol. Some states require you to be 21 to bartend and 18 to serve so I would call around because it varies.

Generally you have to be 21, or above the legal drinking age in your state. In most states, you cannot serve food in a bar if you are underage, because you will also be serving alcohol to the diners.

In FL, you can work in one as a waitress at age 18, but you must be 21 to bartend. But I know a place that wanted to hire me when I was 17, which confused me a little.

It might vary from place to place, states, counties, parishes. It can be a preference of the place but normally just to serve food 16 (and you may need a work permit). You have to be 18 to serve liquor.

I don't know if it varies from state to state. But I used to bartend, and where I'm from, you have to be at least 18.
