The infomercials that tout the buying of property for "back property taxes" make it all sound so easy and lucrative. Keep in mind that they are in business to sell you expensive seminars, classes, books, tapes, and videos. The fact of the matter is that it is a very difficult business fraught with all kinds of pitfalls. Make sure you know what you are doing before you jump in and spend any money.

Your county courthouse will periodically hold a "Sherriff's Auction" in order to satisfy delinquent property leins. These auctions are a matter of public record and you can get information at your local courthouse.

I'm sure that you would want to buy property in your immediate area. In that case, the internet might not offer much, if any, practical useful information. Your local newspaper classified ads will probably be your best source of "fixer-upper" property.

Good luck with your real estate endeavors.

Your best option is to check out forclosure listings, many banks list their forclosed houses through them and will sell them for the ballance on the loan, many of them usually do need some (if not a lot) work though, which I guess you don't mind because thats what your looking for
