Why do we Americans equate nudity to sex?

I've noticed that in many European and Caribbean countries, public nudity is not a big deal, but here in the US, we see nudity as taboo. Why is that?

For a lack of a better way to put it, Americans are very uptight about sex. That is the way we were raised and brought up. A lot of it has to do with the religous fundamentals that created this country.
In Europe you are correct nudity is no big deal and age is typically meaningless. Europeans are by nature more laid back. They have evolved more on physical issues then americans have.
As a side note it is also interesting to note that the sex crimes in european and carribean countries is mininimal in comparison to american. America has the highest rate of sex crimes anywhere.
There is probably some connection between the moral beliefs in europe and the moral beliefs in america to account for that.

Those countries have been around a LOT longer than the USA; they've had plenty of time to come to terms with something simple like recreational nudity and the natural beauty of the human body.

Most people are only nude when they bathe/shower or have sex; they cannot comprehend that when it's above 75 degrees, you wouldn't want clothing sticking to your body, or that anyone could derive simple pleasure from being nude in the sunshine and fresh air.

That, and most people have body acceptance issues, meaning that they're self-conscious about their body.

Sir, maybe is it because of how the United States was raised and what the US is used too. It aslo may be because the Europeans have a different way of life stlye.
