I posted a question last night, asking if any girls on here needed a friend to talk to...I get a e-mail back from yahoo deleting my question b/c of "solitictation or personals." How is wanting to talk to people and be someone's friend a personal? I'm surprised they didn't send me an AD for yahoo personals saying "Sign up now only 28.95!!! One time special!." Sorry Yahoo...I think that is kinda rediculous. Anyone agree?

Here's the problem. Myspace...way too personal. YOu contact someone on myspace they've got all your personal info right off the bat. I don't understand how this question is different from the millions of others on Yahoo Answers. It is flooded w/ stupid questions, half the time that lead to no result. I reach out to some people that may be going through stuff & truly need a friend. I got a couple e-mails from people that wanted help and they seemed releived they had someone to talk to. I can understand why the rules are there, but don't understand why reaching out to people who have problems, who are looking for answers, is such a bad a thing.

It's to prevent someone spamming the site wanting to "chat". I think it's fine, and would not want them to change it.

Your question fell under that blanket of "solicitation or personals". Answers isn't meant to meet people on. It's meant to give people a broad perspective of answers to a question.

If it did change then every weirdo on Yahoo! Chat would come here to solicit 16 year old girls. UGH!

I believe it is in how you worded it. Any girls need someone to talk to? is a bit soliciting. Questions and answers would have been more like Ever feel like you just need to talk to someone? Then you could have even gotten responses with emails but it would have been the viewers idea. Just know there are alot of those who have ill ideas when they try to meet someone and to avoid that here keeps it a respectable place to be. My Space, on the other hand in my opinion, has no limits or overseers and I prefer not to play there. Irritating, maybe. A good thing, I think so.

because they are tired of seeing a thousand other guys ask the exact same question. Find a different approach to talking to girls. Use Myspace. People are mainly on here for asking and answering questions. If girls are looking for a guy to talk to, they will ask, they don't need you seeking them out. That's creepy, even if you don't intend it that way and are honest and genuinely looking to be a friend for someone, that's what many other guys are doing here and many have perverted reasons and Yahoo wishes to keep things clean.

I do agree. Please reread the COMMUNITY GUIDELINES...
There are rules for a reason, and everyone must abide by them. For when we donot, we all will (and do) pay for our disreguard for the rules/law.
I am glad you questioned this. Besides yourself, I am sure someone else needs to be refreshed of Yahoo's Community Guide lines.
As to making friends, have you tried joining a group, getting on yahoo 360, branching out in your area by volunteering, if in school-join a club, go to church (join and get involved with others your age), and just venture out of your circle more.
I know you have a lot to share by how you wrote this.
God Bless. This New Year will bring much for everyone in the world. I feel this will because I have started to change me, and this is working for me.

oh yeah. it's nice to talk to people but a lot of times people take advantage of the fact that you can talk to just about anyone online.
