It is just the peanut you should avoid, and only if you or your partner have any allergies or have exzema, asthma or hayfever. So that means peanut butter etc. Not sure if cashew nuts are the same as pretty similar. I was aware of this fact and thought it applied to all nuts but apparentley just the peanut family!! Although it didn't stop me eating crunchy nut cornflakes throughout pregnancy or breastfeeding!!

Peanuts are the only nuts that you should avoid whilst pregnant, advisable to people who have a sensitivity to them, or who have a familial history of peanut allergies, all other nuts are ok, very good for you in fact!

You can eat any nuts you like. They are a great source of protein, fibre and good fats. Avoid peanuts only if you or the father have a history of allergies.

If your not allergic to nuts then eat what you want apart from shelled nuts, theres something in the shell thats toxic. Love peanut butter butties and so does my unborn child.

Who told you that you can't eat nuts? I eat anything and everything while pregnant that I ate prior to being pregnant. You should be able to eat nuts.
Although you may be referring to being more sensitive to them. I know my lips swell from certain foods while pregnant. Almonds are usually safe for me, or even peanuts. None of them should hurt the baby unless you are allergic.

My understanding is that it is sensible to avoid peanuts specifically, as eating peanuts may increase the likelihood of your child having an allergy. I don't think this extends to all nuts, so in my unqualified, purely anecdotal opinion, avoid peanuts, everything else is fair game!

the only nut that you shouldn't eat is a peanut as if your unborn baby has a nut allergy, it could react quite badly to you eating nuts and peanuts have the worst reaction, this is what my midwife told me.

hi, i was told at the beginning that i couldnt eat nuts at all, then i read somewhere i could, i checked with my docotr and its ok to eat nuts like hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts ect, infact they are very very good for you and the baby!! the only type of nut they advised me to be careful with was peanuts, but did advsie me that so long as me or the babies father was not alergic to peanuts there was no problem with me eating them!!, so eat away, congrats and good luck xx

you can eat all types of nuts but they advise not to eat peanuts esp. if someone in your family has an allergy to them. nuts give some valuable nutritional benefits while your pregnant so if you want them eat them!

When i was pregnant I ate walnut/pecan a lot because it is widely known that walnut or pecan highly increases your baby's intelligence level. My baby is 6 month now and she is quite smart :) I used to eat raw walnuts and I used to crunch 'em in the kitchen machine, mix them with honey to make a delicious paste over white toast. Try it, it's very delicious.
