Do you mean to establish territory?
I always wash down the equipment... stove, etc... and as you are implying it does become yours after you bake bread and make even the closets smell like your own scents.
Burn incense?

Your answer is obviously to cook or fry bacon. But why? What's the point in asking the question if you have an answer already? This is not polls.
My own answer would be to get unpacked as quickly as possible, and set up the kitchen cabinets to be as similar to your previous place as is practical. Put some things on the walls, especially your old favorites and your family photos.

Add little things you love. Family pictures. Burn candles. I don't know.
