ok maybe its dumb but it makes sense to me......... if birth control is 99% effective that means that only 1 out of every 100 people should get pregnant....rite.....well doesnt that mean if you have sex 100 times you should at least get pregnant once....just wondering
what do you guys think?!?!?!?!?

It's 1 out of 100 people having sex, not 1 person having sex 100 times...

In the time it takes you to have sex 100 times there is other people having sex that is taking the ratio up to 100 people.

People fall pregnant when taking the pill but more often than not it's because they have taken the pill incorrectly, or been ill whilst on the pill. If you conceive whilst on the pill your gp changes your pill as it does come in higher dosages and what works for one person may not work for another.

It's not a statistic based on the number of times you have sex. You can't apply one percentage to another. The statistics run off of women that have used birth control for an extended period of time. It's more like saying if you use birth control (correctly) for 5 years you only have a 1/100 chance of getting pregnant.

If you have sex 100 times while ovulating where the egg is exactly where it needs to be within easy reach of the one sperm that makes it that far you should get pregnant at least once! It is a lot harder than just having sex. (unless you are sixteen and this is your first time, then you will definitely get pregnant the first time! lol that is the luck of the teenagers)

i don't think so but i do see where you are coming from but i think that if i am on birth control for years of course i am going to have sex over 100 times and i don't think i would get pregnant. Thats really deep though but i trust birth control to not get me pregnant.

I must have been lucky number 1 my day. I was on the pill and we used a condom, I didn't want to take a chance, but the odds were against me, and I got pregnant. Its gonna happen when it wants to, no matter what you do to prevent it, I know first hand.

Right. It means out of 100 women that use it right only 1 will get pregnant during any given month. You have it right.

Good one I really do not know about that but I would assume that it is 99% effective in preventing pregnancy everytime you have unprotected sex.
