It would be wise to get a BSBA in Criminal Justice or Administration of Justice if you are serious about a law enforcement career. During your studies you may be able to take CSI courses or forensic sciences, which will help you get a job with a police agency.

It all depends on what level of forensic science you want to be involved in. It can be as simple as a 4-year bachelor's degree. I would contact the URI/State of Rhode Island crime lab for information on this http://www.uri.edu/pharmacy/crime_lab/ They may be able to lead you in the right direction.
