Chunky sweaters and scarves. Also cowl neck sweaters made a big comeback.
Boots were huge. I can't remember if Uggs were out by then. But I know boots (especially furry ones) have been huge for a couple years.
Bomber jackets were a big craze, or just jackets that sit at the waist instead of covering your whole body.
Peacoats have been big for a minute now too. I think dressy coats have been making a really nice comeback too.
Nice jeans over some stillettos were/are in.
That's really all I can remember.

Sophisticated layering of dark colors, black and jewel tones, tall black boots, minimalism, etc.
