I have an 80 GB Western Digital Raptor 10,000 RPM NTFS hard drive and I need to know how often I should defragment it. Thanks.

Depends on who you ask. Some people say on the newer, faster machines - never. Most people say once a month is sufficient. You are doing it to obtain speed be obtaining faster reads from non-fragmented files and may want to judge for yourself when things seem to be slowing down a little.

as quickly as a Month is often sufficient yet once you do the test/verify and there is fairly some purple sectors because of the fact of present day record shifting and so on then it wont harm, usually homestead windows will tel you in case you do or do not might desire to defrag.

That pretty much depends on what you use it for and how often you use it! I defrag about every three months and it works well for me.

It really does depend on how much you download stuff. I go once a month, but I do a restore point first just in case I screw something up.

No specific time for that!
Go to the derangement tool, it will check your hard disk and will tell you if your computer needs to be decremented.
You can check it monthly!
