Most people I know who've read a lot of the early issues (early '60s) hold the opinion that The Green Goblin was the worst. I respect their taste, but disagree: as far as I'm concerned, Doctor Octopus was "IT"!
Read 'Amazing Spider-Man' #s 31-33 (original series) or just #32, like I did initially & make your own decision. (Man, it was YEARS 'til I tracked down a #33...OK, I wasn't trying very hard, but still.) You want to talk about a cliff-hanger...

Green Goblin, he was the first to discover Spider-Man was Peter Parker, caused his girlfriend Gwen Stacy to fall to her death (even though it was the sudden stop of Spidey's webline that snapped her neck, but he started it), was impaled by his own glider but was found he had a cool healing ability that brought him back from the dead, and tormented Spidey by any means ever thought of.

Venom, reason he's like the different of spiderman, sort of like in case you watch quite oddparents there is the red chin and the adverse red chin . yet one question why will we've conventional villians?
