I'm a little confused by the term "missed period". Does that mean to take the HPT on the day I am supposed to get my period, or wait through the normal 5-7 day cycle, and if I missed my period, then do an HPT?

I'm supposed to get my period today. I took a HPT yesterday and today (very anxious!) both came out neg. Had sex three days prior to scheduled ovulation day, and sex on ovulation day too. Usually there are many signs my body has before I get my period, and I haven't really had any of them except for very light, faint cramping. I haven't had any migraines like I normally do, and I usally cramp very hard the first couple days prior. Also, different smelling discharge the week up to my period, and that hasn't occurred either.

some tests you can test up to 4 days before you expected your period to start. Missed period means the day it should have started.

Some on the market can test a few days "before" you should start, others the day after your missed period. Be sure to read the box. They all test HCG at diffrent readings.

Best time is to test first thing in the morning. If you're getting a negative you can either go for a blood test or wait a another week and test again. If you seriously believe you are I'd just skip the HPT and go to your doctor because that is what you will end up doing anyways. Doctors still need to confirm themselves.

Good luck!

The HPT's define a missed period as the start day, not when the period would end. If you've already taken 2, I'd try to wait 24-48 hours, and use your first morning urine for the next one. It has the highest concentration of the hcg hormone in it. Good Luck.

You should wait 1-2 weeks after your scheduled missed period only because if you are pregnant your body needs time to produce the hormone that gives you a positive pregnancy test.

Are you positive you ovulated? If you didn't, then you won't be getting a positive HPT.
